ESG and directors’ liabilities
It is becoming increasingly common to see stories in the press of company directors being sued by environment activists because it is claimed that they are not taking their ESG responsibilities sufficiently seriously.
The latest example of this is Shell. Shell directors have been sued for ‘failing to prepare company for net zero’.
A quick Google search shows that there is no end of advice from law firms and others for directors of corporates to ensure that they avoid landing themselves in trouble with environmental activists.
