Remuneration rising rapidly

The NED has evidence of improved compensation rates for independent directors in the Channel Islands. And we have anecdotal evidence of the same trend in Ireland and elsewhere.

The increase in remuneration is happening primarily for supply and demand reasons. Demand for the services of experienced and capable people, willing and able to serve on fund boards, is rising rapidly at present. This phenomenon appears to be happening in all European jurisdictions (offshore and onshore). And it looks like director compensation is only going to rise further, perhaps much further in the next few years, for reasons outlined elsewhere in this issue.
